Coco Is Based on Real Science
Coco was created around a simple human truth: people need to feel remembered, connected, and cared about.
That idea is not merely sentimental. It is supported by decades of research on loneliness, social isolation, active listening, reminiscence, dignity, and human connection.
Living alone does not automatically mean that someone is lonely. Many older adults are independent, active, and content. But living alone can make regular contact less predictable. Family members may be busy, friends may live far away, and everyday conversations can become less frequent. Over time, the absence of small moments of connection can leave a person feeling overlooked or less involved in the lives of others.
Coco was designed to help create more of those moments.
Coco Connect provides a gentle Daily Hello by text. It gives an older loved one an easy way to respond and lets a trusted person know how they are doing. The deeper message is simple:
Someone thought about you today.
Coco Companion provides warm voice conversations whenever the user chooses to call. Its design reflects research showing the value of being listened to, sharing memories, discussing meaningful interests, and feeling that one’s stories still matter. Coco listens patiently, remembers appropriate details, and gradually makes conversations more personal.
Just as important, Coco is designed around dignity and independence. It does not assume that older adults are helpless or incapable. It gives them control over when they respond, when they call, what they discuss, and when they want privacy.
Coco is not a medical service, therapist, or replacement for family and friends. It is a practical, research-informed way to support consistent caring contact.
The science does not say that one text or one conversation can solve loneliness. It does show that meaningful connection matters. Coco was built to make that connection easier, more frequent, and more human.
